I am Human

I am is the deliberately beginning phrase used to affirm the reality of ourselves. It is a phrase that pulls us instantaneously to the present; the moment where we affirm what we can call “our essence”. Whatever it is followed by, brings out a real aspect or a concept we might be working on. It is a self reflection tool that is aimed to help us perceive ourselves, in whichever way, we decide to use it for.

As the ultimate declaration of ourselves, “I am” goes to our most profound root. The one thing that defined us or more like the one we use to define ourselves. And while we are talking about our essence and our most intrinsic trait, we should be talking about our humanity. Since being human is the one characteristic that is at the center of it all. Our humanity cannot be unveiled simply by the act of pitying our behavior. Our humanity is the one thing we all share and by what we are connected.

I am Human is the manifestation of the self proclaiming his history. With good and bad, I am Human is the resignation to be a victim and the announcement of acceptance of this experience as a human one. Not to be shredded as a pitiful story of all the atrocities of our kind, but more to be valued and shared as the powers hidden within it; the very basic capacities that inherently we carry as humans and the importance of starting to recognize and propagate this idea, for the future depends on it. 

I am a mother, I am a daughter, I am a teacher, I am Human. They are all definitions of the self, but only I am Human contains them all as the premise where it all begins. By accepting it, exerting our power from it, and using this experience as an exercise to learn and practice being human, we can start developing our capacities and moving forward into the future we want to create. I am Human is a rebellion against the standards that make humans inadequate and faulty. It is, instead, a revelation of the hidden powers that make us extraordinary.
